September 2016

At our Committee Meeting, it was confirmed we will be once again having a joint ball with Kirkliston Maitland No.482.  This will be held at the premsies of Kirkliston Bowling Club on Friday 18th Novemberand is due to start at 7.30pm.


The Brethren of St John No.788 will notice that we are due to take a Deputation to Lodge Liberton No.1201 on Thursday 22nd September and have been asked to attend a special meeting just 2 week later at the same venue.  This is an initiative intended to encourage all four Lodges in the Province which have their regular meetings on the same nights to share each other's company at the start of the Masonic calendar.

The venue will be rotated each year and the Lodges due to attend are Lodge St John Corstorphine No.788, Lodge Liberton No.1201, Lodge Thorntree No.1038 and Lodge Gorebridge Dundas No.1039.

This special meeting will be held this year on Saturday 8th October with a start time of 4pm.  All visitors are welcome.


Lodge St John Corstorphine will once again be attending the Armistice Day / Remembrance Sunday at The Old Parish Church in Kirk Loan, Edinburgh.  This will be held on Sunday 13th November and afterwards complimentary Tea's and Coffee's will be made available in the premises of the Corstorphine Bowling Club.

September 2015

Following a committee meeting it has been agreed that we will once again be having a joint ball with Lodge Kirkliston Maitland No. 482.

This will once again be held at the premises of Kirkliston Bowling Club and the date for the event is Friday 20th November.  This has always proved to be a great venue, offering the Brethren good value for money.  

More information will be posted regarding ticket costs & sales soon.

Each year the Lodge hosts an event for children and instead of havig the usual Christmas party, it has been ageed we will be having a Halloween Party on the afternoon of Saturday 31st October.  More information to follow.





February 2014

A new initiates meeting will be held at The Portobello Lodge No.226, Figate Street, Portobello at 7.15pm on 31st March 2014.  This meeting is to allow members who have joined over the last couple of years to share experiences and discuss any issues or promote good working practice.

Lodge St John Corrstorphine No.788 are due to visit Cramlington on 15th March 2014 to carry out a Master Mason's Degree.  A bus will be arranged for Office Bearers and other Brethren who want to attend.  Contact Sean Cairns on 07720 161782 to book a seat.

Provincial Grand Lodge of Midlothian are hosting a Grand Variety Concert in aid of S.A.N.D.S & Richmond's Hope.  It is being held at Gilmerton Bowling Club on Friday 14th March 2014 at 7.30pm.  Tickets are priced at £5.00.  Watch out for "Ten Guitars"!

September 2013

A quiz night organised by CYC is due to be held at Corstorphine Pubic Hall with a potential date of Friday 1st November.  The Lodge will have the bar open to allow all partakers to lubricate their brain cells on the evening.  This is a family event so we are hoping to have 3 - 4 teams from Lodge members, family and friends.


A Church service has been arranged for Sunday 3rd November at 3pm for Lodge St John Corstorphine No.788.  Once again this is a family day out so please feel free to bring along family and friends.  This is the first time in a number of years that this has been offered to the Lodge and it would be great to see a good turn out on the day.  Dress code is Lounge Suit and Lodge Tie.  The Lodge will be open from 2pm onwards to act as a meeting place and tea and coffee will be available for refreshments.


The Remembrance Day service will take place this year on Sunday 10th November at 11am.  As in previous years, the Lodge will be open to Lodge Members, Friends, Family and the General Public for Tea and Coffee and a fantastic seection of home baking.  Once again the dress code is Lounge Suits with Lodge Tie.  The Lodge will be open from 10am to act as a meeting place.


The joint Annual Ball with Kirkliston Maitland will be held on Saturday 16th November at the Kirkliston Bowling Club.  Anyone who has been to this venue before will readily agree it is a great venue with decent prices behind the bar which may help to balance out a sightly higher taxi fare at the end of the night.  The cost of the tickets are £20.00 available for purchase at the Lodge.





August 2013

Lodge St John Corstorphine No.788 have been invited to carry out a Fellowcraft Degree at Lodge Cupar No.19 on the 10th August 2013.  A rehearsal will take place on 8th August with an invitation to the Office Bearers, Past Masters and of course, all other Brethren from the Lodge who wish to attend.  Plans for getting to Cupar will be finalised at this meeting.


Both Wardens (Bro. Chris Syme and Bro. George Veal) from Lodge St John Corstorphine No.788 have been invited to provide Harmony at The Celtic Lodge No.291 Installation.  This takes place on Saturday 28th September 2013, when Bro. Gordon Yeoman P.M. Lodge Kirkliston Maitland No.482 will take the Chair.  The Installation Ceremony commences at 5pm.


Still to be fully finalised are a visit to Corstorphine Old Parish Church on Sunday 3rd November 2013, closely followed by The Service of Remembrance on Sunday 10th November 2013.


Advance notice is being given to the Joint Ball with Kirkliston Maitland No.482 which is being held at Kirliston Bowling Club on Saturday 16th November 2013.  Tickets will be available at our first meetings in October.
